Hey Kevin~

I thought of you today when researching San Diego and learned about the city's motto: Semper Vigilans (Ever Vigilant). :-)

You might also enjoy this website that I just discovered...

...that reminded me that I'd thought about you earlier.

Enjoy your weekend!

Much aloha,

I have to disagree with your "slippery slope" argument, Roger; there is none, as far as I can see:

If an employee engages in behavior that negatively affects their job performance and/or costs their employer more because they engage in that behavior, the employer is well within their rights to demand that the employee stop that behavior, and if the employee refuses, to fire them.

Good find about employers requiring employees to stop smoking, but I think this is one of those "slippery slope" issues. There is no denying that smoking is bad for you, just as there is no denying that being overweight is bad for you. So then do we start mandating people stay fit. If you're 30 lbs overweight do you lose your job? While cancer is the main negative side effect from smoking, diabetes and heart disease are the main side effects from obesity. All these conditions are a burden on our health care system and on employers.
