The Seventh Year

As I write this, I’m beginning my seventh year of freedom from smoking.

I began smoking as a child of 10, and by the time I was actually able to make an informed choice about whether or not I wanted to smoke, it was too late; I was already addicted. I quit smoking countless times over the next 35 years, but like most smokers, I ended up smoking again every time.

I began choosing life again on November 19th, 2001, after having been diagnosed with an advanced case of emphysema. The past 6 years have been quite the journey; I’ll tell you about it in upcoming posts.

Thanks for stopping by.
